New 3 bedroom dwelling for a young family.

Roof – Rib profile over timber rafters and timber trusses. Flat roof nuralite membrane
Floor – Concrete floors polished

A 3 bedroom dwelling designed for a young family. The walls are created using precast concrete, cedar, and axon James Hardie on a rigid air barrier. The roof has a rib profile over timber rafters and trusses and is covered with a flat roof nuralite membrane. The floors are made of polished concrete.

Tasked with expanding a modest 90m2 cedar weatherboard residence to comfortably accommodate a couple with two teenagers and a toddler, our architectural solution embraced the stunning backdrop of the Manukau Harbour. Situated on a level site with a pre-existing home boasting captivating sea views and abundant sunlight, our approach focused on creating a secluded master bedroom, complete with a walk-in robe and ensuite, positioned above the existing structure.

At ground level, our design introduced a fresh perspective to the residence. A new kitchen, living area, dining space, and a dedicated TV room were seamlessly integrated on the eastern side, skillfully navigating the challenging topography with the addition of a new in-ground timber pile retaining wall. A double garage, seamlessly integrated into the design, further enhanced the functionality of the property.

Revitalizing the existing dwelling, we reconfigured the layout of the bathroom and transformed the kitchen-living area into distinct spaces, introducing a new bedroom and office. The exterior of the expansive 240m2 new addition showcases a sleek vertical cedar cladding, carefully applied over a robust air barrier. The result is a harmonious blend of modern aesthetics and thoughtful spatial planning, perfectly complementing the panoramic views and natural surroundings.
